Maki Sushi (Sushi Roll)

Zojirushi Recipe – <i>Maki Sushi</i> (<i>Sushi</i> Roll)

Although it will take practice to learn how to roll with the bamboo mat, it will be worth it when you've made your very own roll. Experiment with your favorite ingredients!

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Sushi rice (see here)
  • Nori (seaweed)
  • Ingredients to roll (tuna, cucumber, shrimp, or be creative, and try rolling your favorite ingredients)

Place a nori sheet on top of a bamboo mat (makisu). Spread the sushi rice on top of the nori sheet. Place the ingredients lengthwise on the rice.

Roll up the bamboo mat, pressing forward to shape the sushi into a cylinder.

Press the bamboo mat firmly and remove it from the sushi.

Cut the rolled sushi into bite-sized pieces (usually 8 pieces).
